MB FABER STRENGTHENS MANAGEMENT TEAM

MB Faber Ltd, one of the main subsidiaries of MB Aerospace Holdings Ltd, has significantly strengthened its management team with the appointment of John Hurley to the position of general manager.

John (51) joins MB Faber from Assystem (formerly INBIS) where he was general manager of energy and civil nuclear operations. While there, he was also responsible for developing business at Sellafield and a number of other UK nuclear sites, including Aldermaston.

Having started his career with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), John went on to hold a series of senior positions at organisations such as British Nuclear Fuels Plc (BNFL) before joining Ricardo – Hitec where he was responsible for a multi-disciplined team of 60 engineers, designers and technicians.

In November 2008, MB Faber completed the acquisition of nuclear engineering design company Remac Ltd and John’s initial role will be to lead both the development, and further integration of MB Faber’s Frizington facility with Remac’s site in Egremont, Cumbria.

Commenting on his appointment, John said: “I’ve followed the fortunes of MB Faber for many years and have always found it to be a highly technical and capable company particularly in the nuclear industry.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with Derek May and the team at what is an exciting stage in the development of MB Faber following the acquisition of Remac.  Not only did the acquisition considerably extend MB Faber’s routes to market, but it complements the skills already present within the company’s Cumbria operation.”

Derek May, managing director of MB Faber, added: “I’m delighted that we have been able to secure someone of John’s high calibre and experience to strengthen the company’s top management team. He possesses a broad range of skills and technical ability, including a strong CE&I (Control, Electrical & Instrumentation) background, and I’m confident that he will help better position us for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”

Established in 1988, MB Faber employs over 120 design engineers and is focused on delivering solutions for nuclear and aerospace customers.  Specialist services in the nuclear industry include the design of nuclear mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.
