Project ManagementMB Faber Limited recognise the importance of timely delivery and therefore have in place effective and robust project management methodology to deliver projects to time and cost. This reflects current industry best practice and also incorporates our practical experience of successfully managing fixed and target price engineering projects in a wide range of industries including nuclear and aerospace. Fundamental to our approach is up-front task definition - the work breakdown structure. This is used to provide information to construct a workable, project timing plan, agreed with the customer. Project teams vary in scale from 5 to 60 members. Engineers and designers can be drawn from all departments within the company, if appropriate - to provide multi-disciplinary capability. Project managers are empowered with the appropriate authority to drive their respective projects and are responsible for achieving cost and time objectives. They are fully supported by departmental managers in terms of resource, technical content, quality and facilities (CAE). Where practical, a dedicated project manager is allocated for the entire project duration to achieve:
The project manager is responsible for facilitating both project risk assessment and the various review meetings. All actions arising from such analysis are captured and subsequently completed as an integral part of the design and delivery process. All our project managers are formally trained in the use of Microsoft Project 2000 software, although other software may be used to meet customer requirements. A common internal reporting format is used across all projects, which are monitored and tracked by the project manager using Key Performance Indicators (KPI's). These include:
This information is indicated by RAG status (Red-Amber-Green) using formal, in-house criteria based upon the quantitative KPI data. This ensures corrective effort is appropriately identified and applied by the project manager. MB Faber Limited is happy to tailor reporting to suit the specific requirements of our clients.
